Attendance Record to be Beaten? Posted On 04 June 2021

Record Number of fans to descend upon Liberty Way

3480 is the number to beat. The current attendance record for Nuneaton Borough FC.  Set to play their final match at home ground Liberty Way, the team are confident this number is easily within their grasp. The game marks their final game in the Vanarama National League North and is against Stockport County FC, commonly known at ‘The Hatters’.

The Hatters alone are set to attract 3000 of their own fans to Liberty Way this Saturday with demand for tickets so high that more have been released after the initial allocation sold out. Manager and acting Chairman of Boro’, Jimmy Ginnelly, commented to the Coventry Telegraph that: “This weekend is going to be huge, Stockport are going for the title and they could be bringing 3,000-plus fans down for this one. We have a number of events going on both in and outside of the ground. We have a band on, we have a number of things going on and it should be a great day for everyone. I want everyone to come down on Saturday and celebrate that fact and make it a real good atmosphere. Let’s all enjoy the day, enjoy the football and end the season on a high note.”

This surge in popularity is timely for Boro’, having recently endured financial hardship. Their fans rallied and administration was avoided through a ‘save our club’ campaign, from a Just Giving page started by devoted supporter Simon Moore to charging £50 for first team try-outs.

Having beaten the odds and dodged financial ruin, Nuneaton Boro’ seem set to go from strength to strength led by Ginnelly and fuelled by dedicated fans. Saturday’s game kicks off at 3pm with tickets priced at £12 for adults, £10 for concessions, £3 for under 16’s and free for under 11s accompanied by a paying adult. Tickets must be purchased in advance with season ticket holders required to present their pass on arrival.
